Visual Art

Vision Largely underestimated but increasingly studied scientifically is the healing power of visual arts. Whether you are appreciating a wall painting or getting involved in creating something yourself, research suggests that art has powerful healing properties. Engaging with colours, shapes, forms, and their compositions can have a positive impact on your health, brain function and wellbeing.

How do you feel when you are creating art? Calm, happy, relaxed, or inspired. Art has an incredible way of connecting the world and allowing us to express ourselves. Because of these feel-good effects, art is a powerful tool for self-care and mental health. Studies have shown that expression through art can help people with depression, anxiety, and stress. Art has also been linked to improved memory, reasoning, and resilience in aging adults.

One of the best ways to combat stress, is to make art! Drawing, doodling, coloring, and simply creating something reduces cortisol. Think about when you hang a new painting in your home and the entire atmosphere feels so much more comfortable. This is the powerful impact art can have on your life!
