The Sense of Taste

Taste There are two ways we can look at this, food that is depicted in a piece of art such as a painting, or actual edible food that is presented as an art form. The first could be described as a type of art that depicts food, drink or edible objects as the medium or subject matter.

Since we are presenting the sense of ‘taste’ here, actual edible art might be more apropriate but lets not set limitations. Edible art or ‘Culinary Art’ as its called refers to food designed to be viewed as a work of art that can be eaten. Of course this is directed twards the sense of sight to begin with, or perhaps even the sense of smell may be the first to embrace the creation, but in the end its our sense of taste that enjoys the delight.

While edible art may sometimes refer to savory foods, it’s more often used to describe cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other sweet treats.
