Sound and Music

Sound Music is a powerful tool for mood regulation and stress. Whether you’re on edge or need a lift, even a single song can bring you back to a more balanced and healthy place. When it comes to your mental health, music can‌ help you rest better.  Studies have found that listening to soothing relaxing music at bedtime improved sleep quality. This activity was also associated with decreased signs of depression. ‌

Research shows that listening to happier music can make you feel happier, and can help with depression, stress and anxiety. If you’re feeling anxious or stressed, calming music can help to settle your mind. Simply listening to music can decrease your blood pressure, lower your levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and reduce your heart rate.

When we think of art and sound music will always come to mind, but sounds in nature such as water lapping off a shore, leaves rustling in the wind or birds singing (I guess that’s music) can also have a positive effect on our health. Sounds of nature are commonly used in relaxation and meditation music to enhance the feel good experience.
